Free credit sites are often just a gateway to wind up filling your in box with spam.
The only web site for reports as recommended (not mandated) by the FTC is https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i…
Credit reports are mandated in that they must be made available free once a year.
Scores are not free, you must pay for them, free ones are never correct. Also they have to pull your credit report to even calculate your score. You risk the chance of having a hard hit placed on your report, some may only show up as a soft inquiry, but because you are not the one asking for the report, it shows up. A person can request their report everyday (as long as they pay) and it does not show on credit report. (see source)
Kreditcarma collects information that winds up scattered all over the internet, they stipulate they don’t sell your info but there is no law against providing Data or using tracking cookies when you sign up.
IF you want your true report and score, you will have to pay and order from each agency.
You can read more about these other credit scoring sites at the followinghttp://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer…
It will inform you of the pitfalls and what to watch out for.
Hope this helps answer your question.

Be very careful when you are looking at these companies that offer free reports. Usually they are offering a free trial where you have to give credit card information over internet. In the US there is a government site that can direct you to where you can get a free credit report. Everyone can get one once a year but only during certain months. I think they go by geographic region or SSN# to determine what months you are eligible for your free report. I want to say Experdian is one of the companies that works with the government with this.
Anyways when you are searching for free credit report in google make sure the url has the .gov extension so you know its not commercial. Good luck!

AnnualCreditReport.com is the site mandated by the FTC to allow online access to your free annual credit reports from each of the three credit bureaus. This is the only site that does not require you to sign up for monitoring services. The reports are free, the scores are not.
If you want your real FICO score, you can purchase it from Equifax when you get your free report. It costs about $8. Don’t bother purchaing TransUnion or Experian as those are Vantage scores (different scale than FICO). Creditors use FICO.
CreditKarma.com offers a free score estimator based on your TransUnion credit report. It’s not FICO. But it’s kinda, sorta like FICO, give or take 50 points or so. Good enough if your just curious about your score.

  4. Tried it, there is no free credit report site. Though there are sites that can give you a one time credit report option but it is a bit more expensive that getting it for a couple of months. Make sure that you look at their policies because you may have to call the company to cancel it after your time period ends.

Like everyone, you have many, many credit scores.
You can obtain one of these many scores for free at http://www.creditkarma.com if you want. However, that particular credit score is used only by that site.
You can obtain your credit report for free at http://www.annualcreditreport.com without giving them a credit card number. However, only the report is free at that site; the score is not.

buildcredit.ifastnet.com – try this site. I use it to monitor my credit and also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report. You can apply for free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.

  7. Honestly, you should just go to myficoscore.com It’s like $15 for one report, but it’s a reliable site. Anywhere else is going to make you sign up for crap that’s ultimately going to cost you more money.

There’s a step by step guide on how to do this without getting charged on ehow.com (link given below). Good luck.

You can’t check your SCORE for free, without signing up for a monitoring service. You CAN check your credit REPORTS for free, at http://www.annualcreditreport.com
But if your credit reports are pretty clean, your score will be fine.

It doesn’t exist. You must pay to get your credit score.
