If I Buy A Home In 2010, Can I Claim The $8k 1st Time Home Buyer Credit In My 2009 Tax Returns?
Item 1. The new version of the form isn’t available yet.
Item 2. I believe that since this is a stimulus, the 2009 form will have a check box to let you claim a 2010 purchase on it. (This is what they did for 2009 purchases.)
Item 3. When you file for 2009, the IRS is likely to split your credit in two. The first part would be whatever refund you would get if you had not bought a house. The second part would be after the IRS verified your purchase.
