The IAS (Indian Administrative Service) is one of the premier services in India that offers an attractive and challenging career for everyone, With this service, one can get fame and glamour. As an IAS officer, an individual handles all government affairs. This service also includes the framing and implementation of policy at the central policy. On the other hand, at district level it involves the district affairs. After cracking the competitive exam, one can hold various administrative posts such as District collector, Head of Public Enterprises, Head of Departments etc. So if you want to make your career in this field, you have to clear civil services exam. We can divide this competitive exam into two parts i.e Prelim and mains. The prelim exam is conducted every year in the month of May or June. There are two papers in this examination i.e. General Studies and some optional subject.

For General Studies paper, you may find questions on various important topics such as Indian Polity and Economy, Current Affairs of National and International Importance, Mental ability and basics of Statistics, Indian and World Geography, history of India including Indian National Movement etc. This paper may also consist questions on planning, developmental programs, budgeting, latest issues of political and constitutional importance, natural resources, committees and much more. So you should prepare well on all these topics for General Studies Paper.

In the IAS Prelim Exam, you will also give a paper on a subject of your choice. There are many subjects such as Electrical Engineering, Indian History, Economics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Political Science and much more. So you can select your favorite subject for optional subject paper. Generally, students select their option subject which they have opted in graduation. But there is no such compulsion. You can choose any subject. After choosing the subject, an individual should know what types of questions were being asked in the last years. It will be the best if you attempt last year papers. Apart this, you can also attempt practice tests for IAS exam. This practice tests may help you in cracking IAS exam with good marks.
