I am a South African and proud of it, however we are currently experiencing uncertanties in the political and safety sectors. We constantly hear of other countries not believeing that we can succesfully host the event.
We have already hosted a cricket and rugby world cup, why should this be any different?

1you’re not actually comparing football to cricket, are you?
politically, who cares. the politicians are only good for making sure the country gets the stadiums built in time.
safety, i think its alright. i mean, (not to be offensive) mexico has hosted it twice and mexico i heard was the 2nd most dangerous place to live on earth besides Iraq. dont believe those that think South Africa can’t host it. I actually want to go to South Africa to watch the world cup cause i wanna see what africa is like!

2FIFA doesn’t have the political will to change things now–no matter how bad things are–so the question should be: “How bad is it going to be for the fans and players at the 2010 WC?”
ANSWER: Very Bad. Crime will be wide-spread and the hotel/infrastructure will not be sufficient. Everything will be much more expensive than expected (Gouging will be rampant). Best Case is these isn’t A LOT of murders and there isn’t rampant prostitution/HIV transmission.
