oooo! i really love running. id say, to start out, you should run with a friend and talk. you dont even have to run that fast. it just keeps your lungs working and it will get u used to running longer distances.
hope this helps!

Just like any other distance you want to train for.Make a schedule that builds up to 10.Are you a runner? What's the longest distance you have run? Make a schedule.Typically You make one day of the week your long run day (usually the same day that race day falls on).Make your busiest days your (days off) and the rest of the days can be cross training and varying distances. You want your distances to vary so that you are building your endurance on the longer days and recovering on the shorter days and days off.If you have never run a race before I'd suggest you do races of varying distances that build up to 10 miles.Start with a 5k then do a 10k.You have plenty of time. Most people do a 12-18 week schedule for marathons so that should be plenty of time for a 10.
Make sure you have a good pair of running shoes.Make sure during your training that you get plenty of sleep.Eat a good diet (no junk food, plenty of lean proteins, carbs, fruit, veggies).Drink plenty of water. All these things will help your body recover from the training which will help prevent any injuries.Good Luck and Keep it fun!
