Yes, but it could take a while!
Can you physically? Yes – there is the sea-to-sky highway that goes up to whister. But, though there’s been work done on it, it’s not prepared for heavy traffic – it doesn’t have very many lanes.
And parking’s going to be brutal.
So I’d really suggest taking the bus up. Reduces the number of vehicles on the road and therefore everyone’s frustration with traffic. Also makes your job of parking and whatnot easier.
It also depends on which events you’re wanting to see. I think some are actually being held in Vancouver.
I put a map of the venues in my ‘source’ box – you may want to check it out. There’s no point stressing over getting to Whistler to see Speed Skating when really it’s being held in Richmond.
You will be able to drive as far as Squamish (about half way). To go past Squamish you must have a sticker in your car that they will only give out to individuals who live or are staying in Whistler. (you must provide proof of this…drivers license, hotel receipt, etc…)
They will be stopping all other traffic and people will have to take shuttles from there.
Even though they are completely re-doing the sea-to-sky-highway, there is no way that it can support the amount of traffic that would be using it if they didn’t do this.
You’ll be able to drive but may have serious issues finding a place to park. I’d suggest take the bus.
